Wooden flooring is one of the most popular choices for living rooms and bedrooms in Islamabad. With the right care, it can last for decades and improve with age. Here is our complete maintenance guide from the team at Nasir Tiles.
Daily and Weekly Care
Dust and sweep wooden floors daily using a soft-bristle broom or microfiber mop. Avoid using a wet mop as excess moisture can warp the wood. For weekly cleaning, use a slightly damp mop with a pH-neutral wood floor cleaner.
Protect Against Scratches
Place felt pads under all furniture legs to prevent scratching. Use a mat at all exterior doorways to trap dirt and grit before it reaches the floor. Avoid walking on wooden floors with shoes that have hard or metal soles.
Managing Pakistan’s Climate
Pakistan’s summer heat and monsoon humidity can cause wooden floors to expand and contract. Maintaining indoor humidity between 40 and 60 percent helps prevent warping. Air conditioning and dehumidifiers during the monsoon season are recommended.
Dealing with Spills
Clean any spills immediately with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Never let liquids sit on wooden floors. Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, or vinegar-based cleaners as these can damage the surface finish.
Refinishing
Most solid wooden floors can be sanded and refinished 2 to 3 times over their lifetime. This restores their original appearance and adds years to their life. Our team can advise on when refinishing is needed.
